Faheem Ashraf started cricket in 2010 in the Under-19 inter-district tournament in Faisalabad. Later, he joined the Faisalabad Under-19 team. In 2013, he played for Kasur in a senior district-level tournament. That same year, he entered the Faisalabad squad for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
He scored a century in his first first-class match. In the 2016–17 Departmental One Day Cup, he took 19 wickets and became the top bowler. In the 2017 Pakistan Cup, he played for Punjab and took 8 wickets in 4 matches. In 2019, he was selected in the Central Punjab squad for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Faheem Ashraf started as a fast bowler. Later, he became known for strong hitting in the lower order. In 2017, he scored 64 runs from 30 balls in a warm-up game against Bangladesh before the Champions Trophy. His mentor Tauseef Ahmed noticed that innings and pushed for his selection in the national team.
He has done well in both red-ball and white-ball matches. His bowling average in first-class cricket is 26.93. He has taken five five-wicket hauls. In List A matches, his bowling average is 24.91.
