Smashing a century in the IPL is only for the players who are able to hold their nerves well in the tournament. Smashing two tons in a single season makes you level with the greats such as Jos Buttler and Virat Kohli. And this is how Sanju Samson has been defined by the fans in the IPL 2026 season, as he holds two tons in 7 games.

He has scored a century for the team against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, winning the POTM award in both games. For Chennai Super Kings, only one player was able to smash two tons in a single season. And it was none other than Shane Watson, who did it back in 2018.

CSK had just completed its two year suspension from the IPL at that time, and even got Shane Watson to their line-up. Watson went on to smash two centuries for the team, one of which came in the final match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. CSK won their third title, as Samson's two tons hint at the team getting its sixth.

Our Take

The signs are hinting towards Chennai Super Kings getting their way to yet another IPL title. It was Shane Watson, an opening batsman, who scored two tons in a single season. And now it is Sanju Samson, yet another opening batsman, who has already scored two centuries in 7 games. If the signs come out to be true, the Yellow Army may be able to see their team get the sixth IPL title.
